Thanks to the stubbornness of one man, a steeplechase enthusiast named Nick Arundel, this dream is finally able to be realized.
Mr. Arundel purchased a 540acre site in the northern part of Virginia approximately 50 miles west of Washington, D. C., for the Gold Cup site. He named the large, rolling tract of land Great Meadow and donated it to a charitable organization called the Meadows Outdoor Foundation.
