The ladies timber race, second on the card, also promises to be an exciting race. Randy Rouse’s Cinzano, winner of the ladies timber race at Casanova and three-time winner of the Casanova Cup, will be ridden by Hilary Thompson and looks like the horse to beat.
Patti Cassel will be trying hard to win again as she did at Rappahannock on her Splashy Lea. Ms. Cassel has also entered her Cavalry. Susan Sutula will be riding Too Far Gone, second at Rappahannock. Another contender will be D.M. Smithwick’s Meades Fort, winner of the open timber race at Rappahannock.
In the open hurdles race 15 horses have been entered. Rodion Cantacuzene’s Sailor’s Clue, winner of the Colonial Cup in 1980, will be going to the post for this race with Bemie Houghton in the irons.
