Rappahannock’s Varsity Panthers traveled to Western Albemarle High School last Wednesday for their first — and last — regional game.

They faced the Madison Mountaineers, a team they played on two earlier occasions this season. At home in their first meeting, the Panthers came away the winners in a one point thriller. In Madison for the return encounter, the taller Mountaineers dominated. And on Wednesday, they took the rubber match by a decisive margin, humbling the Rappahannock boys, 76-41.

If the game had been a murder mystery, the reader would have been able to figure out in the first chapter who was going to get killed and why and who was going to do the killing.
