For The Heart Fund

Youngsters at Rappahannock County Elementary School show off different styles of jumping rope, all for the same cause—raising money for the Heart Fund Drive. Supported by individuals and businesses who pledged dollars and cents for every minute spent jumping, the young volunteers contributed over $3,000 through the annual project organized by RCES phys ed teacher Theresa McLawhorn.

Those who haven’t yet donated to this year’s fund drive and would still like to do so should contact Janet Yancey, local special events chairman, at 937-5239. Checks made out to the American heart Association can be mailed to her at Box 135, Viewtown, 22746.

Unit chairman Steve Scoggin reports that the drive is still a little shy of its $6,500 goal. He noted that a portion of funds contributed will come back to the county this year for the first time to finance a heart health education program for young people in kindergarten through 12th grade.
