Michael Power, huntsman for the Warrenton Hunt, will be riding his Fleet Buster in the First .Colony owner-rider hurdle race, the day’s first event. William McCormick will be riding his Double Dog, second in the Casanova First Colony hurdle race and first in the Rappahannock First Colony race.

In addition to racing, there will be demonstrations of hounds between races at the Broadview course. Michael Power will show the Warrenton Hunt hounds after the third race and Brian Kinnear, huntsman for the Ashland Bassets, will show these long-earred rabbit hunters after the fourth race.

“If there is no more bad weather the course will be perfect for the races,” said Wilbur Shoemaker, clerk of the course and an honorary whipper in for the hunt. “The course is in good shape and all the jumps are ready, I am positive we will have some good racing.”

On Sunday the hunt will hold its pair races and an old fashioned point-to-point at Grove on the Springs Road. Entries for those events are open until Sunday.
