Addison Gibbs
Addison L. Gibbs of Front Royal, a former Fauquier resident, died May 12 at Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal. He was 75.
Mr. Gibbs was a community activist, working for equality, improved facilities and busing in the Fauquier County school system. A staunch believer in the educational process, he initiated the scholarship fund of Mt. Olive Baptist, Church, Rectortown, where he served as trustee and treasurer of the scholarship committee.
He was active also in other community programs and was ready to give aid to the less fortunate.
Mr. Gibbs was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service. During World War II he served with the Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre from March 15, 1944, until Nov. 16, 1945.
He was bom March 17, 1913, in Markham, the sixth of 15 children of Rev. and Mrs. William Gibbs. He was educated in public schools in Fauquier County and Washington,
