trative office was shorthanded, several divisionwide responsibilities were handled by the system’s two principals. That, he felt, needed to be changed to allow the principals to concentrate on their responsibilities at each school.
“The changes will not be detrimental to either school,” Dr. Gangel said, “in fact, they should be a boon. It is far superior from an organizational standpoint and smoother running.”
He also praised the board for accepting the promotions of Mrs. Piper and Mr. Cheshire, noting that it’s “good to see that hard work pays off.”
For the administrators, Dr. Gangel added, “it’s important that we get time to work with the things that we need to do,” citing the family lifesex education curriculum development facing the system next year, and improving and expanding instruction and other elements of the curriculum as well.
And, he pointed out, Assistant Superintendent Robert Chappell faces important new duties this fall as the county schools’ asbestos coordinator. That, Dr. Gangel noted, is yet another mandated position which the county had no option but to fill.
“We have studied this carefully,” Dr. Gangel concluded, “and we feel that it will be of real benefit to the schools.”
