The U.S. Department of Agriculture plans to update its National Conservation Program and invites public comments on the proposed changes by June 4.
T. V. Williams Jr., chairman of the Rappahannock County ASC Committee, says the program will place more emphasis on natural resource problems. “The program will continue to focus on priority conservation efforts on reducing erosion, but will increase emphasis on reducing offsite damage and innovations to protect the quality of surface and ground water,” he said.
