D.C. In 1955 he was baptized in the First Baptist Church, Merrifield, where he served as deacon, and later transferred his membership to Mt. Olive.

Gibbs, Centreville, and Lynn D. Thompson, Warrenton, five brothers, Dalton Gibbs, Orlean, Thomas Gibbs, Front Royal. Anthony Gibbs, Rectortown, Paul and James Gibbs, Washington, D.C., five sisters, Louise Ford, Marshall, Rebecca Lewis, Front Royal, Ann Rhodes, Arlington, Bessie Allen, Levittown, Pa., and Martha Green Hume, 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
