When the members of the Planning Commission saw their agendas for this month’s meeting, they hardly expected the application for a bed and breakfast in the Castleton area to be the most controversial.
However, that is precisely what happened Wednesday night. With four applications for special exceptions for subdivisions, the application by the Bleu Rock Inn for a special exception to add 12 guest rooms, banquet facilities for up to 160 persons and recreational facilities including tennis courts and stables, two applications for special use permits for family apartments and the application for a special use permit for the bed and breakfast, the latter application consumed the most time.
First, however, the Blue Rock application was postponed until next month. Attorney Douglas Baumgardner said he was attending on behalf of the applicants Jean and Bernard Campagne to ask that the application “be set over until the April agenda.”
County Administrator John McCarthy noted that the planners had received a letter of opposition from Ulrich Maeyer.
Chairman Allen Stokes said he would open a public hearing to hear from anyone who had come to speak on the application and then continue the hearing until next month.
