The oil painting of the retired judge was commissioned from Northern Virginia artist Robert Prouty by the friends of William F. Moffett.
The Washington Baptist Church will have their annual Spring Event on Saturday, April 17, beginning at 10 a.m. along with the Fodderstack classic race. Hot lunches will be served and there will be other features including a plant sale, odds and ends sale and a bake sale. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and the public is invited.
After a month of meetings, the Rappahannock school board proposed a $2,401,017 budget for 1982-83 on Tuesday that includes an 8.5 percent pay increase for all school employees, a new administrator to oversee special education and Title I programs, roof repairs for both schools, two new school buses and a new combination bus garage and central office building. With the proposed salary increase hammered out in a compromise at a work session last Friday, the budget adoption meeting was in essence a formality. With the exception of the salary issue, the board acted quickly and unanimously in voting approval for 12 categories.
