In 1963, Trott and his wife Lenore founded Burgundy Center for Wildlife in rural West Virginia. He was the director for 13 years. The center offered students an opportunity to study and explore the natural world from scientific, literary, and artistic points of view.
The Trotts have been associated with the teaching profession in independent day schools in Northern Virginia.
His courses in botany and ornithology carry a message in conservation. “Anyone who stops to truly see the natural world and marvels at its complexity and beauty, cannot help but want to preserve it,” said Mr. Trott. “Developing a conservation ethic for students is a prime concern of mine.”
The Library’s First Friday Series will continue on May 1 with a program on educational opportunities in our area. Representatives of several area colleges will be present.
