The acclaimed musical duo of Linn Barnes and Allison Hampton will bring a concert of “Celtic Music for Spring” to The Theatre at Washington, Va., at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 4.
Their featured instruments will be the Celtic harp, played by Ms. Hampton, and the lute and guitar, played by Barnes.
Barnes and Hampton, of Washington, D.C., have been performing and recording music together for more than 14 years, and have been married to each other for over half that time.
They began their joint career playing Renaissance court music on two lutes. It was the work of 18th Century Irish composer Turlough O’Carolan that sparked their interest in Celtic music and broadened their instrumental range to include a variety of Celtic harps, the guitar, harp-guitar, cittern and Uillean (Irish) pipes.
