There was a happy happening at Rappahannock High School last Thursday night. Too bad so few people knew about it. The weather was threatening, cold and wet outside, but it was springtime in the RCHS auditorium. Besides, the student rock band was hot enough to melt any flakes of snow long before they hit the ground.
It was the local equivalent of “Star Search” on national TV. We couldn’t afford to give away “millions” like Ed McMahon, but there were a couple of cash prizes awarded for performance excellence.
The program for RAPP Talent and Variety Show 1992 consisted of nine acts and a master of ceremonies. In spite of a few program “glitches” and occasional announcements of “technical difficulties,” the loyal support poup of student friends and relatives thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
The lively “cheering section” should have been given a special prize for enthusiasm. Their energetic decibel level was exceeded only by the accoustical potency of the rock band. What a wonderful way to kick Old Man Winter in the (deleted).
We look forward to RAPP T&V Show ’93 and would encourage more student musicians, comedians and talented show-offs of all kinds to tryout next year.
