The chairman of the DAR Good Citizens Committee, Mrs. William H. Wetsel, had the pleasure of presenting the DAR Good Citizen Awards to one senior from each of the four county high schools.
This is also an annual nationally-sponsored contest of the DAR, and both faculty and students of each senior class contribute to the selection of the student, considering the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.
Each received a special pin, a certificate and publications of the DAR.
The four honored at the tea were: Christopher L. Sutton, Rappahannock County High School; Detra Funk, Wakefield Country Day School, Rappahannock County; Samuel Andrew Taylor Jr., Madison County High School; and Faith Ann Frazier, Culpeper High School.
After the awards were presented each student spoke of post high school plans and future ambitions.
Following the program, a lovely tea was served, supplied by chapter members and hostessed by Mrs. Dale Metzinger, Mrs. John Cheatwood and Mrs. John McDevitt.
