Experienced members and initiates alike applauded the “Back to Basics” program presented by Christine Johnston, ably assisted by Celine Siira, Helen Smith, and Florence Nordone. Techniques and tools necessary to proper floral arranging, tips on the conditioning of flowers from cutting to arrangement, the variety of containers and accessories, bade floral design, and the rules of display in exhibitions were described. Each member was presented a folder of information on the program, beautifully illustrated by Mrs. Johnston.
The daffodil was the horticulture exhibit for the month. Various classifications were submitted for judging and blue ribbons won by Ruth Baumgardner, Helen Platt, and Virginia Scott.
Hostesses Margaret Tucker, Betty Wood and Ruth Baumgardner decorated the refreshment table appropriately with shamrock plants, green mints, and delicious cakes.
