Earth Network (S.E.N.) in New York City will be the featured speaker. Mr. Pfieffer and the S.E.N. have been actively involved with environmental issues and organizations in this extraordinary region (Lake Baikal is the oldest and deepest lake in the world, 5,315 feet, and hold one-fifth of the fresh water on the planet and 12,000 species unique to its bio-region).
Mr. Pfeiffer will have just returned from a recent trip to Russia and should provide us with an exciting and educational afternoon. Call Hunt at 675-1436 for additional information.
April 22 is Earth Day, and its time to “think trash” and clean up or beautiful county’s roadsides (especially the Fodderstack Road before the big race on the 25th!).
Local recycling efforts in Amissville and the Town of Washington have got us off to a good start for 1992, and a community trash pickup is scheduled for Saturday, April 18.
Bags and some transporation of materials from designated sites will be provided. Keep an eye on the paper for more information, and contact Hunt Harris at 675-1436 for ideas or suggestions.
