Herb Edwards, music director at Taylor Junior High in Warrenton, formed the Fauquier Community Band to give members of Rappahannock, Fauquier, Culpeper and adjacent communities an opportunity to make music, keeping the thrill of “live” music alive for the musicians and their listeners.
He hopes to eventually have such a strong group that they will be able to contribute to the community by contributing money raised from concerts to students for lessons and instruments.
Members voted to change the name of the group from Fauquier Community Band to Piedmont Pops - to better reflect the membership of the group and its desire to provide music to Rappahannock, Fauquier, Culpeper and the Blue Ridge area.
