A total of 432,645 trout will
be liberated in streams scattered across 89 Virginia counties prior to noon, April 7, when the 1962 trout season will open, according to Game Commission Fish Division Chief Bob Martin. Of these fish, 44,500 to be released on the Jefferson National Forest and 50,400 to be released on the George Washington National Forest will be supplied by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Additional stocking will be made during a five-day closure in May. Those steams which are scheduled to be stocked by opening day are as follows: Rappahannock County: Piney Branch, Rush River, Thornton River, North Fork.
Because of eight days lost from school for reasons of snow, the Rappahannock County School Board has approved a schedule of make-up days. Schools will operate on April 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27. This eliminates all of the Easter holiday except for Friday, April 20. Also, June 4, 6 and 8 will serve as make-up days. The last full day of school will be Wednesday, June 6. Students will return to school Friday, June 8 to receive report cards.
Two scholarships for nursing have been offered by the Warren-Rappahannock-Clarke Tuberculosis Association to seniors in all three counties. The scholarships are for $100 each and will be judged by a three-person committee. Awards will be made
