vs. the arts
To the Editor:
I have been following in the Rappahannock News the debate of Ron Frazier vs. the arts community.
The people of the United States support the U.N. and the IMF (internationally), the U.S. monetary, postal and interstate highway systems (nationally), and although they do not work perfectly, they exist because the citizens of the country banded together to economically support such projects for the common good. That is democracy.
While personally I do not care for some of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) “art”—such as the most pornographic work which I dismiss as childish efforts to attract the attention of the gullible—that is a tiny fraction of the arts funded.
What it comes down to, Mr. Frazier, is that two wrongs do not make a right. Giving the ax to the NEA
