where Route 618 meets 617 near Castleton from Anne Furtick. She said she works in the house using computers. She said she felt working with people in a bed and breakfast operation would complement her other business.
“I was thunderstruck by the opposition,” she said. “The first thing I want to do is be a good citizen and be a good neighbor. The last thing I want to do is affect the quality of life in Rappahannock. I lived in Fauquier and was devastated by the commercialization of that area.”
She said she thought the traffic wouldn’t be any greater than it was when four people lived in the house. “The character of it would be a private home with occasional guests,” she said.
Ms. Frances’s application was for five bedrooms, but she said the house has four bedrooms. She agreed to limit her application to four rooms.
She noted that two bed and breakfast applications had been issued in the area, but the businesses were no longer operating, so her business would not increase the number of allowed rental rooms in the area.
Mr. Bernard said none of the neighbors had refused to sign the petition. “The commission should take a look at the need for another bed and breakfast in Castleton. All the previous attempts have failed. You should consider the concerns of the Castleton area people.”
