On Monday, April 6, 1008, at 7:00 p.m. at the Courthouse In Washington, VA, the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing to consider the adoption of the following Ordinance: Pursuant to 118.1-11.4 and 136-00 of the Code of Virginia, 1060 (as amended) this Ordinance authorizes the Rappahannock County Building Official to enforce the provisions of “The Virginia Tradesmen Certification Standards.* 1.0 TIUJi This Ordinance may be known and referred to as the Rappahannock County Tradesmen Certification Standards. S.0« MQUMMWrr FOX CXXTXrXCATXi The Building Official is hereby designated to act as the enforcing agency for the enforcement of the Virginia Tradesmen Certification Standards, duly adopted by the Virginia Board of Housing and Community Development under authority of 116.1-11.4 and S36.99 of the Code of Virginia. Enforcement shall be aooordlng to the terms set forth below. No person who engages in, or offers to engage in, for the general public and for compensation, plumbing, building related mechanical or electrical work in Rappahannock County shall do so without first obtaining a certificate in accordance with this Ordinance, unless such person Is exempt by law. To reoetve such certificate, an applicant must pass an examination to determine his/her qualifications, such examination to be In aooordance with the standards of the Board of Housing and Community Development. 8-0 SVrORCXMXBTi Enforcement of the Tradesmen Certification Standards shall be instituted by the Building Official in accordance with the provisions of the Virginia Tradesmen Certification Standards. 4.0 raxsi Every person making application for examination pursuant to this Ordinance shall pay a fee in an amount approved by the Board at Supervisors. Application fees paid pursuant to this Ordinance shall not be refunded to either successful or unsuccessful applicants. 6.0 AFFXALSt The Rappahannock County Board of Building Appeals Is hereby designated as the appeals board to hear appeals arising from the application or interpretation of the Tradesmen Certification Standards. 6.0 APMIXUTKATIVX PXACTICXSi The Building Official shall establish such procedures or requirements as may be neoessary for administration and enforcement of this ordinance. The procedures are to be approved by the Board at Supervisors. 7.0 VXOLATXOV 07 OKMWANCXi It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation, on or after the effective date of this ordinance, to violate any provision hereof. Any such violation shall be deemed a misdemeanor and any person, firm or corporation convicted of a violation shall be punishable by a fine not more than $800.00. 6.0 UTBCTIVX SATXi This ordinance shall become effective on July 1, 1998. 6.0 numoii Any person who meets the requirements of 8eotton 8.1 A of the Virginia Tradesmen Certification Standards, is eligible to file for exemption from any further local certification requirement under this ordinance. 10.0 TXMPOXAXY GXXTUriCATlOVi Temporary certification shah be made available under the Tradesmen Certification Standards, and shall be administered m aooordance with Section 8.8, Temporary Certification, of the Virginia Tradesmen Certification Standards. nrooroiMXAxca AH persons tnterssted in making comment on this proposed ordinance
