What's Happening at RCES

was testing sight and hearing at the school last week. They provide free vision and hearing tests with the latest vision and hearing equipment for the preschool through seventh grade.
It is a real advantage for the parents of the second and sixth graders because the state requires that they are tested and the Lions Club saves them that great expense.
The Liona are all volunteers and earn money for their club by fundraising such as selling apple butter and their annual auction that will be held May 9 at the Washington Fire Hall.
The students got a real treat, thanks to Linda Owings, from the Art Mobile this week. The Art Mobile is from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond. This is really our tax money at work. The tour is free for the kids and it is like walking into a real museum in the city.
The Art Mobile curator, Lewis James, is very good at adapting his show to any age level and t really spends time with the students to help them understand museum pieces of art and the exhibits. Mr. Lewis also takes his show to the Rappahannock High School and does slide shows and art workshops.
