Steven Grant, 19, of Stevensburg, Va., was arrested for possession of maryuana after a routine traffic stop in Old Hollow March 16.
Grant was pulled over by - Trooper S.M. Knick at 8:30 p.m. 1 on Route 612, one mile north of ' U.S. 211, for equipment violations, according to Sgt. G.A. Morris of the State Police.
A subsequent search of Grant’s 1975 Chevy pickup revealed suspected marijuana and a small set of scales. He was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In other police news this week:
• Timothy Hutson, 24, of Front Royal, was charged with possession of marijuana after being stopped by Trooper Knick at 11:15 a.m. March 15 on U.S. 211 at the Route 730 intersection, according to Sgt. Morris.
Hutson’s 1988 Mazda pickup was stopped for equipment violations, said Sgt. Morris. A search revealed suspected marijuana, and Hutson was charged.
• Theodore Walker, 53, of Copper Canyon, Texas, was injured in a single-vehicle accident on U.S. 211 at 3:10 p.m. March 20, according to Sgt. Morris.
Walker was operating a 1989 Ford pickup westbound, half a mile west of Route 729, when he ran off the right side, overcorrected, came back on the highway and off the left side, where he overturned, said Sgt. Morris.
Walker was charged with reckless driving by Trooper Knick. His truck was destroyed.
• Four goats were found, either lost or abandoned, in the Rock Mills area on Sunday. A billygoat and three young kids were reported wandering on Route 626 and were picked up by Animal Warden Ray Pullen. Their owner has not been identified; call the Sheriffs Office for more information at 987-8787.
