I read with great interest your account of the new Catholic Church in Washington, Va. I was struck by one fact. There wasn’t a word of thanks or appreciation to William Carrigan for his generosity in support of the Catholic community in Rappahannock County for the past 13 years.
I was a charter member of that congregation for 10 years (until I moved away) and I know whereof I speak. Your reporter is not to be blamed for this lack of sensitivity. She could only report what she was told. It’s obvious she was never told of Mr. Carrigan’s refusal to accept any rent for the building used as the chapel for these many years or for
