Bingham said “fluff’ is acceptable as a cover, and the companies with it would pay the county to take it.
When the landfill was first proposed for the Amissville area, the county assured the citizens of that area it would not be smelly because a six-inch cover of dirt would be put over the trash each day.
The supervisors also noted that the contract with Community Trash to collect and transport trash from the Huntly and Scrabble dumpster sites to the landfill expires in October. Mr. McCarthy said he would be recommending in April that the county negotiate to purchase a central waste transfer site.
