The Rappahannock Lions Club is taking part in White Cane Days from March 28 to April 4. White Cane Days is an annual fundraising event for Lions Clubs throughout the world.

During the 1925 International Lions Convention, Helen Keller challenged the Lions to become the Knights of the Blind. Since then. Lions Clubs all over the world have been known for their work in assisting the visually handicapped.

Lions Clubs have expanded their service work to include hearing assistance, diabetes research, youth services and substance abuse prevention. Most local clubs include community service work as an important part of their function.

The Rappahannock club, working closely with the Social Services Department, provides eye exams and glasses for those who qualify,
