Agency directors still spend a great deal of their time and energy writing grant applications and looking for funding. The United Way contributes to their budgets, but is not the sole supporter.
Though the United Way doesn’t control how its member agencies raise money, they do request that agencies not solicit for funds from Aug. 1 through Thanksgiving each year.
