Burke’s team has two seniors who were not part of the team last season, but do have softball experience, Danielle North and Megan Payne.
The remaining five players have moved up from the JV team. Junior players are Nicole Brown and Ashley Llama.
Jessica Lee steps up as a sophomore while Noel Johns and Crystal Heflin come on board as freshmen, bringing junior varsity experience.
“Many of these girls started young, playing during the summer and on travel teams,” Burke said, “the more you play, the more experience you have and you can’t teach experience.”
That experience is what the coach, who has taken over the team this season is banking on.
Although he is new at the helm, Burke has been under the leadership of John Smyth for five years, saying, “I am just carrying out what John started, and I hope I can do well.”
