The search brought them to Front Royal, Va. where the Delmares had friends, and then across the mountain to Huntly where they purchased the Glen Gordon Manor and later found 15 acres of perfect land to grow grapes just off Rt. 522 in Huntly.
Now, six years and four more children later, (yes, that is correct, the Delmares have 12 children ranging from 22 years old to 9 months) the Delmares are enjoying the fruits of their labor, producing award winning wines, some of which are internationally acclaimed.
“A number of wineries begin as-hobbies that got out of control,” said John Delmare, “but it has always been a business to me. I got a lot of mistakes out of the way in California.”
