In his chiropractic practice, Schusterman was already using hand signs called modes as part of the treatment modality. These modes were developed by Dr. Alan Beardall as a way of dialoging with the nervous system. Then, about 20 years ago, Schusterman recounts “I spontaneously placed my hands in a particular hand sign, which had a dramatic effect on me. I experienced tingling in areas surrounding my body in an unusual configuration. I then remembered years earlier having purchased a book on the Kabbalah. When I found the book and opened it to a picture of the Tree of Life, I saw a diagram of the areas that were tingling around me.”
