Mixing east with west

Although Virginia often competes with California in the wine industry, Delmare has found a way to bring the two together.

The final result is a blend of one-half Virginia Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, grown at Rappahannock Cellars and onehalf Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown at Delmare’s brother’s vineyard in northern California.

The combination is a newfound product for the Huntly winery, New World Red.

“We are proud of our California heritage, it gave us a leg up and it is who we are, part of our personality,” remarked Delmare, who is very proud of the Virginia-Califomia blend.

New World Red is available only to Rappahannock Cellars Wine of the Month Club members.

As for the other grapes that make Rappahannock Cellars wine, the vineyard located at the winery produces approximately one-half of the fruit used
