“I was a congressional intern at age 28, when most congressional interns are 19 or 20,” said Whitson. At the end of the summer Congressman Riley asked Whitson to stay on as his spokesperson. “I realized this was a once in a lifetime opportunity and that I could always go back to teaching,” said Whitson.
