lasting aoouc an nour, the performance captivated the children’s attention the entire time. Unlike many puppet shows where only the puppets take the stage, the Barefoot Puppet handlers were an integral part of the play, often taking the stage to tell bits of the story or even interact with the characters.

Each year the elementary school selects a grade that will put together a performance at the end of the school year. This year the second grade was selected, and a puppet show was the chosen venue. The Barefoot Puppet’s visit was incorporated into preparation for the end of the year performance in order to give the children an example of what they might be doing and to help them learn how to handle and work with puppets. “This group (Rugg and Bruckmeuller) were really able to pull the kids in and engage them,” stated Rosenblatt. Rosenblatt and assistant Davette Leonard will be working with the students to help them make their own puppets and scenery for the performance.

Scheduled for April 28 the show is eagerly being awaited.
