runner-up in 1978. She recalled that the girls’ junior varsity team always averaged 15 players, while the varsity roster included 12.
"We always had the numbers when I played,” she added. "Ibday, as soon as they get a license when they’re 16, get a new car

Two summers ago, Jenkins wanted to take her girls to two, summer basketball camps, knowing that the experience would make them better players. Only one girl agreed to go, so she called off her plan.
"When the coach wants it more than the kids, well,” Jenkins said. "1 love the game. I love being around the kids. I think that the program needs a big face lift. The kids, if they want to play, need to dedicate themselves to the program.”
Jenkins will remain as a physical education , teacher at the elementary school. Last fall, she ran a six-week, after school basketball clinic for her students. She might do it again.
She also plans to watch her youngest son, Travis, play for the boys’ basketball and baseball teams. Her husband, JefT, is the head baseball coach-at Rappahannock County.
Another son, Jason, plays baseball for Division III power Christopher Newport University.
‘ Maybe you’ll see me helping in the concession stand,” she joked.
