The Virginia circuit is good enough to gauge your horse’s ability- It used to be easier to win a point-to-point, but not anymore! You have to have your horse fit and ready to roll. The point-to-point races can be very tough, but they’re nearby and much more relaxed, a great place to start a young horse.
And I like to use the flat preps for the older horses, too, coming off an injury. It’s a good workout for them.
