The Clancy brothers, sons of ‘chase trainer Joe Clancy Sr., knew the American sport inside and out. And Joe Jr., a University of Delaware journalism school grad, knew the world of journalism: he served as sports writer for the Cecil Whig for nearly a decade before launching the Steeplechase Times.
Joe Jr. said the business side of the equation — advertisers, circulation, printing,' distribution — they sort of “figured out on the fly.”
Now in its 13th year, the Steeplechase Times has added a three-day eventing department to its repertoire, with Joanie Morris at the helm. Steeplechasing news is interspersed with opinion, bits and pieces, short news, international items and award-winning photographs.
