League for Environmental Protection, we are once again looking forward to the annual Rappahannock Natum-Camp, held at Singing Creek on the Hazel River in southern Rappahannock County.

The Rappahannock Nature Camp is one of several similar camps initiated by the Piedmont Environmental Council as part of a regional educational program. This
a one-of-a-kind educational experience for children 8 to 12 years OldIn
the past, we have based our studies and explorations on the themes of Habitats, Mysteries, Patterns, Baby Animals, Water Life, /and Metamorphosis. This year we *Witt study “Cycles of Nature.”
The Rappahannock Nature Camp is metat to open the eyes of load children to the marvels of nature all around us, aa another Nature Camp (at " Vesuvius, Virginia) opened my eyes and sustained my interest many years ago. Withouteuch an appreciation and sense of awe and wonder of our natural surroundings, concepts of “conservation” and “environment” acquired later in life will inevitably become abstract and self-centered.
I will be directing the camp, and Trista Scheuerlein will return as Assistant Director. TVista is a gardener, musician and a wonderful teacher who coordinates the “Fsrmto-Table” program at Rappahannock County High School.
