Joe Clancy’s Newark, Del. basement office, the Steeplechase Times has become the U.S. industry standard. Published bi-weekly during the spring and fall ‘chase seasons, the tabloid-sized fullcolor newspaper averages 30 pages each issue.

"It was almost on dare that we even started,” Clancy said of the creation of the paper. Clancy and younger brother' Sean, a 1998 champion jockey, had been “kvetching about the lack of U.S. steeplechase news,” as Joe puts it “We’d seen England’s Racing Post and Sporting Life (both daily sports journals dedicated entirely to horse racing) and wished there was something like it here.
