Community was the Chester Gap Grocery, Jr. Fire Fighter of the year was Zachary Fogle, and Jr. E.M.S. Person of the year was Amanda Crawford. Please make sure that if you happen to bump into one of these folks that you congratulate them on their award. Trust me when I tell you that a whole lot of hard work and hours went into each one! Also a huge Thank You’ is due to the following folks for their hard work and/or effort throughout last year: Maybelle Gilkey for stepping in and doing an outstanding job as Treasurer, Dixie Swain for her time, donations, and for always showing up with or sending up food whenever we had a function or a full day of calls, Rodger Swain along with Charlie and Mattie Frazier who gave their time, hard work and used their own gas and equipment to cut the grass before the department was able to sign on Randy Norman who did a great job all year long too. There are many others as well like Nora Sealock, Mary (Shugie) Williams, Earl Williams (that was some great apple butter wasn’t), Caroline and Thomas Leake and still many more who helped the department in so many ways. On behalf of the Chester Gap Vol. Fire and Rescue Department, please accept our deepest thanks and appreciation for all that you’ve done and continue to do.
