No schooling of the courses is allowed; courses may be (and should be) walked, by riders on foot, ahead of time. Warmup jumps are provided in the start-finish area.
Other pace divisions include a junior optimum time division (in which pairs must include at least one rider under 18) and an open division offered by some clubs (for riders that are not subscribing members of a hunt club.)
Some events require pre-entries with Central Entry by the Monday preceding the pace, but many clubs allow post entries in some, if not all, divisions.
Pre-entries are required for points to count for year-end awards.
