Saturday afternoon clinched Rappahannock County’s Group A berth to the state tournament.
“I’m proud of the accomplishment,” said head coach Dave Naser, whose Panthers eventually finished second in the Region B tournament to Bull Rim District rival George Mason. “This was a great team effort. We knew what we were up against, but we met the expectations.”
Rappahannock County and George Mason will participate in the eight-team state tournament Feb. 24 at The College of William & Mary.
This will be Rappahannock County’s first-ever appearance in the Scholastic Bowl state tournament, which is only 9 years old. It will open against Radford, the defending state champion.
