In Shenandoah, Gilliam said park officials will not only be able to compensate for past cutbacks on park maintenance but also increase the number of ranger programs offered in the park.
“The quality of the ranger programs in Shenandoah National Park is very good, but the number of offerings had been reduced each season,” she said.
Gilliam said it is important for localities, civic organizations and businesses that benefit from Shenandoah and other national parks to encourage representatives in Congress to approve the funding boost.
“It’s just a start, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction to getting parks funded at the level they should bq,” she said.
