According to results from the 1979-80 Science Research Associates (SRA) Achievement Tests and the Short Test of Educational Ability, both administered nationwide, Rappahannock students continue to show improvement in academic ability and performance. Reflecting statewide trends, the most significant improvement comes at the fourth grade level. County eighth graders also show higher scores in reading as have eighth graders throughout the state but this class has not paralleled the similar improvement in mathematics demonstrated by other Virginia eighth graders over the past five years.
