James Russell Riley of Amissville was sentenced to six months in jail, fined a thousand dollars and costs of $568.20 were levied in Rappahannock County Circuit March 10 on a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
The charge stemmed from the death of Roger W. Breeden, also of Amissville, who was the fatal victim of a single vehicle crash in which Riley was the operator of the vehicle. The crash occurred April 19, 1979 on Route 211 west of Amissville, and was investigated by Trooper C. A. Moore.
Riley was found guilty by a jury in the court on Janury 7 of this year and Judge R. V. Snead requested a presentence report. After the report was given, the sentence was handed down when the court convened March 10. Other action in the March term of the court included the revocation of the driver’s license of Charles Mahoney of Front Royal who was cited for reckless driving and failure to stop for a police officer.
