According to superin-'^j tendent Robert R. Jacobsen, work has begun again on the general management plan for Shenandoah National Park after an unscheduled delay of several months.
Current efforts are directed toward completion of an environmental assessment on alternatives for protection, public use, development and operation of the park.
“This task will be accomplished at a reduced level because of limitations in funds and staffing, and using data and public comments that have been gathered during this past year and a half,” Jacobsen reported.
The new schedule calls for the environmental assessment to be completed and printed by January, 1961, with time set aside thereafter for public review and comment.
Between now and the end of the year, Jacobsen said he will meet with any interested individuals and representatives of agencies and organizations in his office to discuss matters related to the park planning process, environmental assessment or the present and future management of Shenandoah National Park.
