Dr. Brevard Wallace has advanced another reason for the success of shorter stays locally. “Family involvement is so much better here than in other areas. The patients can go home earlier and get family care. The physicians try to work with the families, and the families are cooperating.” Dr. Wallace is chairman of the CMH Medical Records and Utilization Review Committee, a kind of quality control.- The committee asks the questions about whether an admission was really necessary, and whether the length of stay was appropriate.
