West Virginia native. The sixth 20-year veteran, Rebecca Utz, is ward secretary on semiprivate. She has mounds of paperwork, because she takes care of records on her floor and relays messages between doctors, nurses, dietitians and others. She also orders all the supplies for her floor, and makes copies of charts for the physicians. She keeps track of changes in diets and delivers the medications that come through the pneumatic tube system.

“I like people and the girls I work with,” she says. “We worked awfully hard to start the hospital, and really pulled together to have a good hospital — I don’t think we’ve done a bad job.”

She worked for Culpeper Memorial before it was a job, and remembers cleaning cabinets and the like in preparation for opening day. She began work in the nursery and went to central supply, and has also worked in the operating room and the laboratory.
