Rappahannock school board members plan to take a field trip October 18 to see some Page county system buildings.
Superintendent Robert Estabrook says the board recognizes that the high school has serious space problems, but “it is not feasible to go all new construction.”
The board decided at last Tuesday’s meeting to look at the architectural work at Luray High School and Stanley Elementary where existing space was redesigned for current needs. The gym at Stanley was converted into several smaller classrooms and storage areas for a wide range of uses.
Rubber Roof
In other business, the school board voted at its September 13 session to proceed with bids for the first phase of installing a synthetic rubber membrane roof at the elementary school. The roofing will be mechanically attached over the top of the existing structure after any water deteriorated portions are removed. It will then be heat-seamed to create a continuous sheet of water-tight fabric.
