This one will be a pledge, delivered with wideeyed sincerity and the right hand raised on high, that the candidate will fight to his last political breath any effort to raise the taxes on the “already overburdened” people of the state.
In mid-June the Virginia Assenibly, a non-partisan think tank not to be confused with the General Assembly, held a meeting at Wintergreen in Nelson County. The subject of the meeting, which was sponsored by the University of Virginia Institute of Government, was the role of adult corrections within the Virginia Criminal Justice System. The 71 leaders from around the Commonwealth who attended the assembly heard some interesting statistics and facts:
